Salt, vinegar and soap

Red pepper and soap

Action

Repellent.

Controls leafcutter ants and other insects. Be careful not to apply it when bees are most active.

Preparation and application

1. Place 100g of chili peppers in a bowl and crush them.

2. Add water until the crushed peppers are covered and let it sit for 24 hours.

3. Strain and add a teaspoon of biodegradable laundry detergent to the strained liquid.

4. Dilute 200 ml of the mixture in 1 liter of water.

5. Spray onto the leaves during times when the sun is less intense. Use gloves to avoid skin irritation.

Shelf life: Indefinite. Store covered in the shade.

Ashes and lime

Action

Fertilizer and insecticide.

Controls aphids, caterpillars, and ladybugs.

Preparation and application

Mix 10 g of ashes with 1 liter of water and let it sit for a day.
Add the lime to the ash water.
Filter the mixture through a cloth to retain the larger particles.
Spray both above and below the leaves.
Apply every 7 days as an insecticide or every 30 days as a foliar fertilizer.

Shelf life: Indefinite. Store covered in the shade.

Garlic and onion

Action

Repellent, insecticide and antifungal.

Controls aphids, mealybugs, and mites.

Preparation and application

Peel 1 clove of garlic and 1/2 an onion.
Blend the garlic and onion in a blender with 1/2 liter of water.
Strain the mixture through a cloth, squeezing well.
Add another 1/2 liter of water to the mixture.
Spray both above and below the leaves.
Apply every 7 days until the insects are eliminated.
Do not apply to legumes (e.g., beans).

Crush 200g of garlic together with 400ml of water.
Add 20 ml of vegetable oil and let it sit for 2 to 3 days.
Chop 40 g of neutral soap and dissolve it in 600 ml of boiling water.
After cooling, mix the two preparations together.
Strain after 1 day.
Mix 50 ml of garlic in 950 ml of water.
Spray the top and bottom of the leaves every 7 days until the insects are eliminated.
Do not apply to legumes (e.g., beans).

Wheat flour

Action

Preparation and application

Mix 20 g (1 teaspoon) of wheat flour slowly into 1 liter of water until completely dissolved.

To use as a spreading agent in other solutions, dilute 100 ml of this preparation in 1 liter of solution.
Apply every 7 days until the insects are eliminated.

Horsetail and chamomile

Action

Preparation and application

Soak 5g of dried chamomile in 200ml of cold water for 24 to 48 hours.
After this period, boil the horsetail for 20 minutes in 500 ml of water. Let it cool completely.
Mix the two together and strain through a coffee filter or cloth.
Spray the leaves every 7 to 15 days.
